Merlin, not the Magician

September always brings Merlins to the Marsh
We have 3 (at least) this years, fighting for
the territory.

This one came close so I took a shot while
he was standing still and not flying after
some Dragonfly.

A beautiful bird...

Baby's Cardinals are out in the wild

Surprise this morning as I was eating breakfast
on the balcony. I saw the two baby Cardinals
being feed by the Male. There's a male and a
female here. Don't ask me which is which.

Hummies in the SNOW!

See the small white lines in the back, that's
SNOW! I hope my Hummies will be OK!

They are really though little birds. They
are still running after one another... maybe
to keep warm, who knows.

Hummer Season again.

Yes sir Mam, even if they are late coming in,
compared to the U.S. I really enjoy them.

Even on a rainy day like this (almost a week
now, no Sun).

Lucky Antoine does it again

I was gona mention Antoine's luck, but
at this time of year Baldy hang's there.

Reason: because the river runs there and
the water is not frozen, cause there's a dam
not far...

This is the original picture.

Friday :-) Morning Cool Shot (Updated)

Guess I made a fool of myself by posting this as Saturday
instead of Friday. Gees... I was'nt drunk. Hope some of you
took bets on how long it would take me to see it and change
it. Would like to know who won... LoL @ myself...
Back to the Birds

Common Mergansers surprised me this morning as I was taking the picture below

So like an old friend birder once told me: "Take a shot, take a shot, at least you'll
have one instead of none"
So I took the first one through th branches trying to get the best possible focus,
and got this shot (below).

But luckily, they came around and I got more shot. Usually they would've got
toward the middle of the river but they stayed close to the side, to my great
pleasure.

Remembering the Pileated Woodpecker

These are some of the best shots of the Pileated Woodpecker
I ever took...

It was in March 2009, right at home or almost.

I had gone to the marsh that day, just in case I would see this
guy and naturally had'nt seen it.

One day (March 19th), I was coming up the hill on the street where
I live. I was almost home and at about 100 feet from our driveway
was a huge tree where the Pileated had made a big hole.

As I lifted my eyes to make a fast check, like I always do and there
it was.

I parked my car, got out with the cam and started shooting  some
pictures. I had two minutes with it before he left.

It  was the best two minutes of 2009.

The series is HERE

Bird from 2008 again

Still no pics in the last days, Junco and Siskins are gone,
and I have not been feeling too well.

So, again I'm going back in time with a picture of this nice
looking Ovenbird taken in May 2008. I stood in front
of it for about 15 minutes and it did'nt seem to bother
it, to my pleasure.

I posted more than 20 pics of this cute Bird HERE

First Snow (Updated Twice)

Wellll... It was coming and it's here
It makes fantastic photos, when we have
the light which we dont have now.

It should get a bit better lightwise
in a few hours.

Makes all the difference when the Sun comes out

And to top it all Pine Siskins were here
How nice of them to drop by :-)

There was only 4 not 400 like the last time
in 2008-9...
